Red face Me and My Talking Budgie

Hi Everyone!

I am new!
I have a 1 yr old Budgie named Abbey. Abbey talks!
He says all kinds of things. He is so smart that he is even learning the alphabet.
I credit alot of his learning to speak from The Budgie Research Group that we belong to. They have talking budgies!
I let Abbey listen to the recordings on that site and he is learning alot from it.

His vocabulary grows every day.......He talks about all kinds of things.

Welcome to birdboard. I've heard that budgies can learn to talk well. I'm glad you are enjoying your little friend.

Thank-You Willow

They talk about all kinds of stuff.
I am now in the process of teaching mine the alphabet. I started this last week.
I sing A is for Abbey, B is for Bell, C is for Cookie and D is for Dusty.
After a few days Abbey said A is for Abbey, and he keeps picking it up .
He is on his C now.

He has really been talking more since we listen to other birds talk at budgieresearch.com. Some of them are so clear it is unbelievable.
The stuff they talk about is wild. You should check it out!

Abbey flies into the computer room everynight and calls me . because he wants to hear these very intelligent budgies talk.

Enough for now

Hi Abbey and mommy,

My budgie is just a baby. His name is Plato, I am letting him listen to recordings of other budgies hoping that he will learn to speak in context. He really is the cutest thing and I love him to bits already. How long did it take for Mr Abbey to begin to talk.

Shelly and Plato..

Abbey Talked at 7 Months

Hi Shelley

Abbey said her first phrase (one I could hear clearly) at about 7 months of age.
He Said " Hi Birdie"!
And it took off from there.
They are all different with their talking......Some start earlier and others later!
That is great you are letting Plato listen to recordings.
Since Abbey started listening to them, his talking has progressed at a very fast rate.
I never know what he is going to say next.

Where did you let Plato listen to recordings?

Hi, I'm fairly new here also. I have two budgie's. Only one talks up a storm and his name is PeekaBoo and he is 2yrs old. I think the funniest thing he says is when I taught him to say hi, and he started saying, "say hi Peekie." Exactly what I was saying to him....lol. I thought I'd pee my pants the first time I heard him say that!
I read an article that budgie's have a hard time pronouncing any word with the letter "K." He really doesn't have a problem at all since he says his name all the time.

he also says:
I love mommy
mommys pretty boy
mommys boy
Peek a Boo
Peekie, Peekie
where's daddy
mommys pretty blue bird

I am constantly talking and singing to him. Sometimes he talks so fast, its hard to figure out what he is saying. I'm just so happy that I got such an intelligent bird. :eusa_clap
