Smile hi from the uk

Hi I just wanted to introduce myself, my name Shell I live in the uk, I have recently purchased a cag after loosing my cockatiel last year and felt it was time to have a new addition to the family as it was quite frankly too quite since Tucker (my cockateil) passed away, I missed his chirping and him greeting me as i came in the door.
My grey is called Jasper and we believe that he is 3 years old he was bought from a local pet shop I know I can hear you all cursing me for not buying him from a breeder but he was taken there by his previous owner as they no longer could have him for whatever reason he looked so lonley like I had been without Tucker, so I felt he deserved a new permanent home with someone who could give him lots of love and attention.... ME lol
He tries to say hello, and will let me touch his beak and feed him grapes, nuts etc but other than that he needs completely training :( but patients is a virtue and with two kids n a husband i have pleanty of practice at that
Anyway i joined this forum in hope of making friends with fellow cag and other bird owners and help and to get help and advices on taming him so any advise is grately apreciated
anyway enough about me
bye for now
Shell (aka huggybear) and jasper my cag :eusa_danc

Hello Shell,

Welcome to the group. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of Tucker. I'm glad to hear you were able to give Jasper a loving home. How long have you had him? You are right, it will take some time an patience to get him trained. But once you've earned the trust of you Grey, it will be a wonderful relationship. If you haven't do so already, read through the posts in the African Grey forum. There's lots of good information in there that might answer a few of the question you might have now. And may answer some quesions you never thought to ask.

If you have any pics of Jasper, please post away. I can't resist the cute innocent face of a Grey.

Have a grey't day

Hi don thanks for welcoming me to the forum I had a quick browse through the forum pages earlier and theres lots of very good helpful info and tips to try taming Jasper i cant wait to try,
I have a couple of pics of him but theyre not very clear so when I get him to finally venture out of his cage I will take as many as I can and show him off to you all, and I,ll be sure to keep you all up to date on the handling process and his speech development
In answer to your question we are only just entering our third week together so theres loads of time to get to know each other still and get help and advice from the start from you all, after all if I get it wrong to start with it will be hard in the future but with this forum me n Jasper should hopefully become lifelong friends
Thanks again for replying to me
Shell
