Greetings from the Jersey Shore !

Hi,
I live on the Atlantic Ocean in New Jersey, on the beaches near Point Pleasant Beach. I have a 17 week old Senegal Parrot. He is the greatest, I've had him for about 4 weeks, now. He already loves to be cuddled, plays peek-a-boo, and sitting on his 'anywhere perch' on the front window. ( perch with suction cups that can be placed anywhere ! ) He really enjoys looking outside, stretches his neck to see different things out there. He's beginning to make some great chirping sounds, he was very quiet the first week or so. I'm trying to give him light mist to bathe, but he doesn't go for it right now. I'm wondering if he'll ever say some words, others are found to have a small vocabulary, some can talk sentences. I am looking forward to reading the threads on the BirdBoard !

Hey welcome. It sounds like Buddy found a good home. Try that anywhere perch in your shower. I have one in mine for my guys. They don't love the shower but they like being with me and they get good moisture from the overspray. It's an option that has worked well for me in introducing them to the idea of a shower.

Interestingly enough, Davey will use the perch in the shower but go nowhere near it on the window. Bing looks outside but I'm not sure he is that interested.

I'll look forward to hearing more about you and Buddy. Those Senegals are great little birds.

What an excellent picture !! I love Manhattan. I worked in San Francisco for about 8 months and traveled California when I was there. It was terrible when I had to leave, I liked it there that much. I wanted my family to move out there with me, but I guess you just can't jump ship and run...so I had to come back, I wanted to be near my family. There's always tomorrow !

It took me about 25 years to get back to California--wandered away to go to grad school and one thing led to another..... Anyway, I am staying this time--my family was all too smart to ever leave (but boy did I learn and do a lot -- no regrets)!
