Hello from Texas

My name is Chris and I am 16 years of age. I live in Richmond, Texas and have a Red Factor Sun Conure that is about 26 days old and my father is going to get an African Grey in a few months. I guess that covers it all I will post some pictures up in a little bit of my bird. Oh yea and his name is Zeppelin. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask.

I bought him from a breeder, she said he was 3 weeks old on the phone. But when we got there his eyes werent even open... So my dad fed him for about a week then watch me feed me for about a week to make sure I know what I am doing. But I feed him exact and I use a syringe. I fill the syringe to 3 cc to 3.2 cc. He eats like every 3-4 hours. And no I dont have a scale. Dont worry about being nosey ask anything you want, it just shows me that you truely love birds.

thank you for understanding. I dont think I have ever seen such a tiny one away from the breeder.
I have handfed a few, but much older then Zeppelin(great name BTW)
I would suggest getting a scale for him, because with one so small, that would be one of your first indications something was wrong. (in the event it was) They have scales by "sterling" and they have bowls to put the baby in, then he can graduate to the perch. I have one for my guys as well.
Did the breeder talk to you about temperatures of the formula for proper ingestion?
I dont really have any experience with the exact. I know my grey was on it, and when I got him, we switched to Harrisons Juvenile, for the reason the Exact was high in something and my vet recommended switching. I honestly dont remember what it was...its almost 6 years ago. One blood test came back high (WBC) and somthing else, and she recommended that I switch.

Please dont hesitate to ask questions if you have them. While I might not be able to answer them all, I can find people who can.

thanks

Thanks for the welcome by the way. My grandma has a scale for measureing stuff and I could use that. I give him the formula warm but not to warm and he seems to like it; Its kinda hard to explain I can just tell when it is right for him. He is really healthly in my opinion and he moves around strongly. My dad has raised birds by hand before and he helps me with him. I will keep everyone updated on him though and post pictures periodically.

its important the handfeeding formula is the correct temperature.
too hot it can cause fistulas(crop burn) too cold, they cant digest it and can get Crop stasis (crop slow down). Both are potentially deadly.
this might be of some help.
