Me Again

I've been away for awhile, quite awhile actually, but may be stopping in more often. I know quite a few people here, and am excited to be in contact with them again!

My bird story in a nutshell (all birds are in my sig): Dakota, my tiel, was my first bird. I got him at the age of 11 and made so many mistakes wtih him. Mistakes I have been determined not to repeat. Dakota did not go with me when I left for college, and even after I left the dorms he stayed with my parents. He loves my mom and to take him away from her would be cruel. Mollie was rescued as a 4 week old chick about a year after I got Dakota. Mira came along over 10 years later as a hopeful friend for Mollie (we thought THIS TIME we had a female pigeon, lol)- but they are both males and of course they detest each other. Both live in an outdoor flight, divided down the middle so they don't kill each other. They are fully flighted, as are all my birds, and are free flighted as well. They love all the animals on my parent's farm- sheep, goat, dogs, cats, etc. Ollie is the world to me. I got her my sophomore year of college, she was 8.5 weeks old. I was very ignorant, and dealing with a breeder who was only concerned with making money. Thankfully, Ollie survived and flourished. She is the only one of my babies who lives with me as I attend grad school.

I've been a bird owner for around 12 years. I've been a good bird owner for far less than that. I love to learn and also to share my knowledge and experience. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better.

well, i sure am excited to see you on here again - was missing the olli stories ( i admit, i kind of kept tabs )
