Hi all

Hi guys, my name is Jimmy, i'm 24 from New York. I love birds as is quite apparent, and i have 2 of my own. I have a severe macaw and a yellow naped amazon, both are rescues. I'm a restaurant manager, and that's about all there is to me....

Welcome Jimmy:

Heck, I like you already. I also have a Severe and a Yellow Nape in addition to 8 other larger parrots. According to "urban legend", our birds should be among the most difficult to handle. You'll have to tell mine that, however, for they are sweet as sugar.

HEY!!!!...that's really funny...cause when i first went to the vet, they were very nervous about seeing my birds...i never realized why..and mine are VERY sweet...my severe is a little nippy...but i attribute that due to the fact that he was severely abused, but i have had him for almost a year and now he lies on his back and falls asleep...he thinks he's a kitty cat, and he doesn't STOP talking...my amazon's previous owner died of cancer after owning Henry for 15 years....i've had her for about 4 months...she has NEVER bit me...but is starting to come around now she loves sitting in my shoulder and talking to me and cuddling, she's just starting to talk to me and let me scratch her head. It was amazing when i told people who know a great deal about birds when i told them what i have accomplished in only under a year they wanted me to record what i was doing, because of how remarkable and quick i got results....LOL..so apparently for my first 2 birds being the toughest to break into a new family i'm doing something right.....interesting you said that;)

Hi Regina, well my birds are both rescues, gus my severe was abused very badly, henry my amazon was with her previous owner for 15 years when her owner died of cancer, couldn't find a home for her cause she would jump at everyone's face *especially woman*, and cause serious wounds, the owner of my pet store where i frequent, i was there getting gus a new toy and having him pick it out, when i had a bird on my foot, the pet store owner just gasped, i took no fear cause of being nailed by gus for 6 months, i was immune :)...i just bent over picked her up and talked to her and she said "hello, i'm henry, i'm a good boy"....and the pet store owner said "do you have a hundred dollars".......................i paused said yup...and i walked out with a huge play gym, a cage, bird food, and henry....oh and an allotment of toys...just cause she was happy she was going with me.....after the fact...i find out that i picked 2 of the hardest birds to own..birds someone who knows NOTHING about birds should NEVER get...LOL...that's my luck, but i love them dearly they are my children. i believe you are from Jersey..where in Jersey..i'm right in nyack NY right over the border of NJ....what about your birds?
