New Quaker named Rico

Hi, I have not formally introduced myself. My name is Tracy, I am from Southern Illinois close to St. Louis, MO. I just adopted a new baby Quaker last week. He is 7 weeks old, and yes, unweaned. I know that many of the members here do not particularly like that breeders are selling unweaned babies. I have to say that I agree with this because there are well intentioned people that do not know what to do once they get these babies home. I have committed all of my free time to learning how to take care of this feathered baby and think that I am doing a pretty good job. I want to give thanks to the members of this forum that have given great advice and have also provided links to helpful sites. Rico has come a long way in just a week. He is learning to use his feet and beak to overcome his clumsy body. He had his first shower yesterday and he absolutely loved it! He is truly a delight.

Good luck. It sounds like you are already bonding well. Keep us posted on his progress.

New Quaker Rico learns to step up

Baby Rico learned to step up yesterday! He is only 7 weeks old but enjoys smidgets of popcorn during our lesson. He is the first and only of my birds that will actually step up! I am very excited. He is very proud of himself also.
