New Parrotlet owner

Hi all,

I just bought a little parrotlet from a bird show in town, and her name is Phoebe. I've had her about 3 or 4 days and am still learning a lot about her. She seems to be getting more and more used to us though I can still tell she is really nervous around us. She is supposed to be about 8 weeks old and I can see she still has down feathers. I have been lurking on the board the past few days and found lots of interesting information. I also went out and bought a book (along with tons of toys and treats!) I have many questions, so I will get to posting. This seems to be a wonderful board and Phoebe and I look forward to being apart of it :)

welcome to you and Phoebe. I don't know too much about Parrotlets, but there are a few around here that do. We hope to hear more from you.

Hi:

My name is Lori. I just brought home my first parottlet today. I think this is a wonderful way to learn from others who love birds. I look forward to talking with you as we learn about our new birds.

Welcome

P-lets are great birds. She will be nervous for awhile - normal. Just be careful - they tend to like walking on the floor a lot. We learned to shuffle in socks around the house and never took her out of her cage when guests were over until she really knew us and would stick with us. They also can fly outside in a second. I clip a bit of wing to keep my birds flying so they can get excercise in the house and get away from danger, but just enough to slow them down a bit.

You will LOVE this bird. Just give her time and let her be herself (all birds have moods and moody times just like us)...

Our little guy just died in his sleep - no idea why. Still miss him!

Welcome! P'lets are great fun. The parrotlet sub-forum has a great thread called ADVICE started by Pado - originally for introducing 2 birds but still has great advice for owners of single p'lets.
