Maankaa intro
Hi
My name is greg and i have a new scarlet macaw named Maankaa. She is 8 months old and I have had her for about 2 1/2 months now. I am looking for other macaw owners that could help me out with macaw diets! Maankaa weaned herself off of the syringe and is eating everything from fruits and veggies to zupreem pellets. The problem is she remains skinny... so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to BB! Macaws need a higher fat diet than other species. Do you include nuts? Grains and some legumes?
Getting her exercised may increase her appetite as she works off calories! And it helps build up muscle! If she's clipped, teach her to flap her wings.... or even run around the house with her, getting her to flap! Make it a fun exercise, and reward with treats!

Gourmet Blends They have lots with nuts galore! (I have a Mitred Conure that is skinny) Have you looked into medical reasons? Worming?
