I'm new and I don't know what kind of bird to get.

I had a budgie when growing up as a little girl and I must say it was a great pet and led me to my later love and obsession over birds. I would highly recommend either budgie or cockatiel to someone with a small child, just be sure to supervise at first and make sure the child understands it must be gentle and loving towards the bird at all times. I would try to get a handfed baby bird as I think this really would be best for your son. Best of luck to you...errrr... Santa.
