My new Sun Conure and me!

Hi, I am new to Bird Board, and this is my new buddy! I don't have a name for him/her yet so suggestions are welcome!

When I first started to scroll down all I could see was that duck (?) flying into your wall and I was like, "Whaa?? That is not a sun consure!?!"

Ok then, welcome! I suggest Mathew for your little bird's name, or Maddie if she turns out to be a girl. Will you have her dna tested?

Yeah, it's a duck (northern shoveler). You can tell I'm kind of a bird fanatic, there's two taxidermy birds and a plush pheasant in that picture :). This is my first "living" bird in about 7 years!

Matthew is cute but that is my roommate's name! Don't want him getting a bid head lol! I was thinking maybe Cricket, I've been calling him Rusty also. And my other roommate calls him Bob, and my friend calls him Petie...he is going to be so confused!

I doubt I will have the bird DNA sexed, I just assume he is a boy for some reason. He is a rescue bird, flew down onto my mom's friends' shoulder a couple weeks ago and no owner could be found so I adopted the little guy!

What a gorgeous photo. Rusty seems to suit him somehow, I'd go with that.

What a beautiful little bird! Welcome to the forum!

For choosing a name, I find it helpful to look at baby name websites. Then you can sort names by gender, language of origion, amount of syllables, first or last letter, meaning, etc. It won't take you long to find the perfect name!

Thanks everyone!

He is very sweet, he just loves to be petted and to sleep inside my shirt (or anyone else's shirt for that matter!) He is very kind, never bites except he will pinch my finger if he is mad or annoyed, but I don't consider that biting. For a sun he's relatively quiet and only squawks at the appropriate bird squawk times (when he wakes up, when I leave, sometimes if he can hear people in another room but can't see them). I have been looking at some baby name sites for a good name, and also at the bird board photo album to see what other people are naming their conures!

I just ordered him a new big cage (32x24x45 in.) online, along with about 80 bucks worth of toys and perches! I might be a poor college student but I plan on spoiling this little fella!
