Hey thanks. ^_^
I'm sorry to say I am horrible at describing where exactly I am, so I figure the best way is to give you a link. http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp...te=nj&zipcode= I'll be glad to have some bird buddies in the area. ^_~ So, I have an update. Someone that my boyfriend knows is looking to find a new home for her maroon-bellied conure(it's afraid of her new dogs). I'll be going to visit the bird this weekend to find out if it's love at first sight. I've been very confused lately as to what kind of bird to get. My father, I'm sure, will allow only one in the house. He thinks now is a good time to get a larger bird(which I'd love to have), because his girlfriend knows a lot about them(she has a YNA, an umbrella cockatoo, a parrotlet, and 2 parakeets). He seems to think she could help me with anything. I also know that I'd be able to afford a larger bird. I am trying to figure out what the best thing for me to do is. I think starting with a conure would make me more confident for a larger bird if I want one in the future. I have been struggling with what to do....what my gut feeling is, what would be best for me and the bird(whichever I end up getting). After thinking about it, and talking to people and talking here, I suppose I know it would be best to start out smaller. Thank you for listening to me pretty much thinking out loud. ^_^ I will take any more input anyone has, especially after reading all of this. Haha. |

I am by no way an expert. I believe a smaller bird may be better to start with. Although, we started with one African Grey, (now have two). And we did it. So I guess it is really up to the individual and what you think you can seriously handle after doing all of your research. Any bird you get you have to figure in the cost factor. There are many very good people on here to give advise. I think they would be better to ask. Post the question in Bird Talk section and I know alot of very knowledgable members will answer.
