Red face Hi I'm Reba the Roto4

I live in New Jersey and have a mini Hahn's McCaw named Cocoa who talks alot and is the love of my life. And my cocktiel Pretty Boy. I just recently lost a month ago Peppe who was the first bird me and my husband owned. It was like a death in the family we adore our birds. It's really hard to loose an animal. We never knew how affectionate and smart birds could be till we got Peppe he was our baby and than we rescue Pretty Boy who was a couple of years old and this guy was keeping him in a closet all day so my husband told him we would take him. He's a doll but very nervous because of the mistreatment it left him nervous. Than we got Cocoa who is my baby he always wants to be cuddle and talk to. He saids night night when he wants to go to bed and a lot of other things. He always saids things when it's the right time I swear he knows exactly what he's saying. Please feel free to write me about your birds and, give me any pointers on foods for them anything you can think of I'll listen to any advise on birds and, love to hear stories about other people and their birds. I have a sheltie and a cat and a fish too. If I was retired I would have more our animals make us so happy. We have a daughter and a son and they are the same way just love our pets. I love this board tool It's great!!!!! Hugs to all Reba the Roto4

Unhappy Regina

I really don't know what happen with Peppe you won't believe the year we had. He was 71/2 years old. He was so lively and so wonderful. He was my husband's favorite because my daughter gave it to him after my husband lost his Dad. We use to say the spirit of Dad was in him because he really favored my husband and would let my husband do anything pet him rub his belly he just adored my husband but, was good to all of us. Well I think it was a year ago we had a scare with him really bad. The washer was left open. It had clothes soaking. My husband came home from work and heard Pretty Boy yelling so he went up right away and he was by the washer and inside was Peppe with his wings out straight to keep from going down. I don't know how long he was like that. My husband got him out massage him and put a warm heat from a dryer he got his wings down but, he still wouldn't move he must have been in shock. My husband called me crying he said I think we lost him. I drove home from work praying all the way. We took him to the vet by the time we got there he was moving a little and sneezed. The vet said that Peppe had to be kept warm and if he made it through a couple of days he would be ok but, he didn't like the way his breast bone was thinning. We were always told by friends he was chubby but the vet said he was thin. He always was eating and after a day or two he was himself again. Eating and flying around I mean totally Peppe again than a month ago this was almost a year sense than he just got shaky one day so I had him by my neck just warming him up. My husband got scare he just felt something was wrong and he was right. He died right by my neck about 2 hours after I was reading and he had just moved a little I thought he was going to be ok but, my husband check and he had just pass away. I still can't get over it. He gave no clues that anything was wrong till 2 hours before he pass away with getting shaky do you have any idea what happen?? Thanks so much for writing me. Hugs Reba the Roto4

Reba,

I am so sorry how terrible. I can only imagine how you feel. I know I would feel the same way. I wish I could say something to make you feel better. Just know that Peppe is now a guardian :eusa_ange for all of your other fids. He is flying over Rainbow Bridge and is well. Rest assure he misses you as much as you miss him. I am not sure what that may have been, but I know someone on this board that is more knowledgable on these things than I and I will see if I can get her to look at your post and give you ideas if she has any. Find comfort in knowing that he was in your arms and secure when he passed over the Bridge. Sounds like you are a very caring and loving parront. Bless you for that.

Where do you live in NJ? I am in Monmouth County.

Hope to hear from you again.

Regina

hi Roto4.
I am very familiar with Dover. I lived in Lake Hopatcong before moving to the Trenton area because of the National Guard Heliport closing at Picatinny. My Husband flys and maintains the choppers for the state.

It sounds like your little guy had a stroke or seizure of some sort. Tiels sometimes have fatty liver problems, and can have organ shut down. ther can be lots of guesses of what could have happened.....but....
Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure was to have a necropsy done.

The important thing is that he was with you, and knew how loved he was.
I have lost alot of birds in my 29 years of living with birds. It is never easy..
Each one marks a certain spot in your heart.....I am sorry for your loss.

Red face I know many people from Lake Hopatcong Too

Thanks so much for taking the time to care about my feeling and for telling me what you think it was it was so sad. People that have birds and know how loving they are know the pain. Thanks so much for writing. I use to live in Lake Rogerine for 9 years when I was growing up and, that's right next to Lake Hopatcong. I went to Mt. Arlington school till 6th grade. Life is strange isn't it. Thanks again for your words...Hugs Reba the Roto
