Hello: Intro-

Hello, My name is Shea White. I am a man (my mother named me) (allways let the father name baby boys) I am 35 years old. We have a Severe Macaw, he is 9 months old. We bought him at the bird show in Memphis, TN. or can I say he picked my wife at the bird show. My wife was picking up a business card of the breeder and she had about 5 parrots on a pirch behined the cards. Jack climed right onto my wife's arm and gave her kisses. Well we took him home.
I used to have a red front amazon, he was ok, would bite everyone but me. He did not show affection much. That was 15 years ago. I had never owned a Macaw, untill we brought home Jack. This Severe Macaw is the BEST pet I have ever had. I did not know birds were so smart.
Been looking at the Macaw posts, thought I would join up and say hi.

Bet you grew up tough, like Johnny Cash's "Boy named Sue", LOL.

BTW, that's a great looking bird you have, and welcome!

Welcome to the board. I also have a Severe named Chi Chi. He is the orneriest bird at **********, but I adore the little scoundrel. He dances, sings badly, starts fights with all of the other parrots, loves me totally and is quite a character. Severes are like Aussie sheepdogs: very very good or a pain in the ass. I am blessed with having a good one. I always feel that anyone that can love a Severe is someone I'd like to know better (LOL). I just saved his life for the second time today. He has decided to screw around with my Yellow Nape Amazon who detests him. Why can't they all just get along (LOL)?

Shea, welcome to the group. Your little guy is just too cute. I've only known one Severe personally. He was in a pet store that I visit frequently. He was purchased, then after less than a week, was taken back because he bit and drew blood. Well, I couldn't believe it because he was the sweetest little guy toward me. We would talk and play and just have fun together.

I look forward to hearing more about Jack.

Welcome to the board Shea!

I think you're mama did just fine! I actually like "Shea" for a boy. Of course this is coming from a woman engaged to be married to a guy named "Lynn" - I think you got off easy!

Does your wife get strange looks when she is in new company talking about "Shea and I this", and "Shea and I that"? I always get a few raised eyebrows in our neck of the woods - (I live in Backwards-behind-the-times-ignorant, U.S.A) they think my Lynn is my "female" friend. Sometimes I even ham it up a little just to make it more fun for me. Just a tip for your wife - just in case she's ever bored standing in line at the grocery store behind 2 little old ladies who just got out of church.
Anyway - welcome to the board - can't wait to hear more about your fids!

Thanks for the welcome

Jack has never drawn blood. Although he bites alot, and I do mean ALOT. He just likes to chew on EVERYTHING. so we give him stuff to chew on besides us, and he is very happy. Jack hardley ever screams, only when we get back home from going somewhere, and then its only for about 2 seconds and then he is quiet again. He likes to talk all the time, He says: What?, Hello, Hi, Thank you, Hi Jack, Pretty Bird, Oh!, and now my wife is teaching him to say Aflack, like the duck on TV. If he is not talking then he is mumbling, but never screaming. I guess he just wants to talk like us. Oh yea, he never screams or talks when the sun comes up in the morning. He waits untill we get up. I have the perfect bird.
