Guess I had worded that part wrong, or they were just too close together... Humphrey and Noel were rescues, sort of speaking... but both were most likely captive bred...

As for smallonion, she has MANY posts on Humphrey! Here are some!

MONICA:

Yes, I'm thinking Noel & Humph were not wild-caught adult birds like Anpas has. I also think there is a HUGE difference in terms of training. Even the most difficult bred bird at least has been imprinted on humans. I would hate for Anpas to get false hopes due to reading your & Smally's sucess-stories.

Both of you had years of difficulties with your captive-bred birds. I think it's likely to be a hundred times harder to bond with a wild, bird-imprinted, animal.

ANPAS:

If you can see real progress after these months of trying, then maybe you should give it more time. But, to be realistic (IMO) given your situation, you're facing an uphill battle at best, and quite possibly a futile effort.

I suggest you start a new thread in the "Bird Talk" area, and explain as fully as possible Pepito's behaviors since you have had him. Also, be sure to mention that he was caught fully-grown, in the wild. You will get many more diverse opinions there, and hopefully somebody will know some facts concerning taming wild birds. Good luck!
