Unhappy newby to cockatiels here

hi all!
hope somebody can help me
after raising parakeets for years, my oldest one (11yrs) passed away, and i have decided to pursue my interests into larger birds
i purchased a female grey cockatiel yesterday, and i am concerned that all she has eaten in the last 24 hrs is a little millet(which im finding out is just a treat), and a bit of a fresh carrot
she has seed(which im finding out is semi-bad) which she wont touch--unless i put the sunflower seeds back in
i took them out because i found out that they are like candyto a kid
she is very alert, vocal, and social
loves to bathe in her water!! (I am finding out i will have to invest in some more supplies--including a birdbath!!)
in the next day i am planning on getting her some pellet food
i feel like a first time mom with a new baby!! help!!
toto

She's in a new environment and may not feel safe. Just watch her over the next few days to make sure that she is eating, and as she gets more comfortable in her new surroundings she'll most likely start to eat more. Keep giving her fresh food, and make sure for her baths that she has a spray bottle for you to mist her with.

If you buy her some pellets, don't give her more than 50% for her total diet as smaller birds tend to do better on diets with 50% pellets (or so my vet has told me... I prefer the "all natural" route...). Try buying a safflower based seed, or seed with very little sunflower and safflower in it. Kaylor by Colorado makes a good cockatiel seed with no sunflower in it.

Welcome to the forum! Congrats on the new fid!
