Im new to this board and looking for some advice or direction in which way to go. My family is looking for a bird and would like a breed that is a pretty proicient talker yet very personable.

Hello! I am new here too, but I think you will find this board very helpful and knowledgable! I don't know if I can help you or not, but I would recommend to first think about the size of bird you are looking for and then research bird types from there....especially if you have young children. Did you have any ideas of what you are looking for to begin with? You could always try checking out the individual bird species forums on birdboard. You might get some insight reading some of the posts!

Welcome! Firstly, even with the Congo African Grey, considered the best speakers, there is no guarantee that your bird will talk. Talking should never be the first and primary reason that you get a bird. That is my opinion. As DarwinsGirl said, you will find lots of information on this board.
