Hi everyone I need help!

I'm new at this so please bare with me. First of all I am so glad to have found this site. Anyhoo My senegal Trio is about 8 yrs. old. I have had him for 5yrs. He was my sons. Trio and I have bonded and became inseperable. He loved me and all of a sudden he turned on me. He attacks me terrible and has bitten me severely. It's like he disowned me. He gives me all the signs to pick him up and I do and start to rub his head like he wants and then he attacks me and goes nuts on me. His bites are very severe. I continue to talk sweet with him and give him treats and everthing. He still does all of his calls and whistles when I leave the room. He will go to my two teen grandsons and daughter whenever they come over. So it's got to be me. I have reacted to his attacks. He hates my husband and my husband hates him. Rick has cancer and is home now everyday but I have Trio in the den where the both don't have any contact. I spend most of my time in the den watching tv, working on computer, knapping and whatever else. So trio is not ignored. Actually very spoiled. He has attacked my face, neck, ears, and my back and has left serious wounds. I don't get it. I love trio so much. Help anyone! I want my trio back.

What do you do when he is doing this? Is he able to fly? How long ago did this start and what happened right before this that you can think of that made his loose trust?
I can help you better if you fill me in a little better

It may not be a lack of trust at all. I can be displaced aggression which is very common in birds. Has he been DNA sexed as a male for sure? You said he hates your husband and you also said your husband is now home all the time. If your bird has bonded to you and has started attacking you it could also be one of two things. He is upset that your spending more time with another "mate" (your husband)OR he is trying to drive you away from another "suitor" (your husband) who seems to be hanging around his mate more. Birds will use aggression on their mate to drive them away from a percieved danger rather than use the aggression on the "suitor". A fight with another bird trying to steal their mate might almost always end in deathe or severe injury and or the possiblity of losing his mate. If he focuses his attention on keeping YOU away from "the other man" he feels he risks less and gets to keep you. It a Natural thing. If this is indeed what is happening there are measures you can take to help and we can go from there. Do some googling on DISPLACED AGGRESSION in Parrots.
