Introducing myself...

My name is Tracy and I in Pinellas Park, FL. I will be getting a B & G baby in a couple of months. My new baby is still growing in his/her egg. haha If all goes well I will bring my baby home when he/she is about 6 weeks old. My husband and I are so excited that we have already named him/her. We will be naming our baby Marley. My husband has always wanted a Macaw and he's beyond excited. I've had a B & G before... it's been many years and I miss her more than anything. My cousin has her now... I had no choice but to sell her to him because my ex-husband cared more about drinking then helping with the bills. I still see her all the time... she is an amazing bird and I miss her. Now I am remarried to an amazing man and the situation I was in before is not a concern at all, I decided I wanted to have a bird in my life again. I called and talked to breeder after breeder an finally found a great woman near me and I am first on her waiting list for the next B & G. I look forward to getting to know you all and exchanging ideas, advice, etc.

Tracy

Oh how exciting. Have you ever hand fed? That's a lot to take on at such a young age but heck I did it kind of. I hand fed my TAG Echo from 11 weeks of age I must say I don't think I will do it again. though..

Anyway welcome to the forum

Life is good when you are the chosen one. Except of course when you get barfed on.

Welcome to BB! Congrats on the B&G baby! Like my-africangrey-echo said, have you ever handfed a bird? I should be more specific, a macaw? From talking to many breeders they are more difficult than many other species. Due to the difficulty of hand feeding and the dangers to the babies, some states like CA have made it illegal to sell unweaned birds. If you have handfed then just ignore this. I just felt that you should know what you are getting into.

Thank you for the welcome. Yes I have hand fed before. When I got my first B&G that I mentioned she was 6 weeks and I hand fed her so I am not concerned doing it again. haha
