Red face New to the board

Hi everyone =o)

My name is Jessica and I am from New York. Birds are my first love, although I do own and breed Sugar Gliders (my website is www.pocketangelssugargliders.com). I have loved birds my whole life, growing up with 2 cockatiels named Casey and Baby Bird. I worked at a pet store at the age of 15, in the huge bird section. My favorite bird was always the Hyacinth Macaw. I seemed to be the only person that she let touch her lol. She still remembers me when I go in there to visit.

Anyways, I have been looking into getting an indian ringneck, but I am looking to adopt one. I would love to buy a baby, but just cant seem to find any of them around me (i am in southern NY). A friend of mine told me that the females dont talk... does anyone know if this is true? It doesnt matter to me, I am just looking for a happy fun bird that likes to cuddle and will hang with me all day lol.

So hi everybody!

Welcome to B.B. Jessica.......I have had plenty of I.R.s over the yrs. and the only ones that talked for me were males. I wouldn't say "never" relating to females being able to talk however. Maybe someone else on here has one that does?......I'm not so sure I.R.s would be the best choice for a cuddler (?), my own best cuddler is a Jardine & second best a Meyers......Good luck..... :icon_smil

I've had a pair of IRNs for almost a year now....the male talks his head off, the female tears flesh from my fingers. LOL

I've been trying to get them to breed for the past several months....any suggestions, Joel?

Hey Samm ole buddy :icon_smil .....I always had good luck breeding them outside in long flights (7x4x4 at least), unclipped of course and well fed with plenty of sunshine and flight security. They seem to prefer nestboxes about 24 inches deep, don't forget to attach a ladder inside box (I used wire for that)....Good luck.

Hi Jessica and welcome to the board!
I live in Western NY - near the PA border. I do know of several breeders from Buffalo to Syracuse. Atleast one of them gets IR babies from time to time. If you don't think it's too far let me know - I can pm you their info.
