Hello EVERYONE!

Hi everyone,

I've recently been doing research on African Greys as I'm getting a brand new baby girl in within the next week or less (actually I believe it's being shipped either Sat or Sun) and I came across this great community!

I've learned alot just by reading posts so I figured I may as well register. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to do once she gets here? I'm also still looking for a name heh.

PS: She's a DNA certified female TAG. Are they alot of trouble at first?

Welcome! While I do not have experience with African Greys, there are many people here who do. Good luck with your new baby girl!

Hello & welcome! We have a spunky little tag & he's two years old. I personally did not think he was any trouble at first, although we visited him daily before he came home, so I suspect you will have a little tougher transition with your new little girl.

In my opinion, an excellent choice with a Timneh! Good luck & be sure to share pictures with us as soon as possible! Do you have a name picked out yet?

Hi Sebrina welcome... How exciting!!! Where are you getting her from? It's sooo much better when you know for sure. Poor Vern spent 20 yrs as a boy until I got my hands on her and had her properly DNA'ed and know she is a girl named Vern.

Well I guess she always was a girl named Vern

I'm getting her from Bella's Aviary (god I hope I spelled that right), and my husband is giving me her as a b-day present (although I think it's just as much for him) as me he grew up around a Panama Amazon for over 20 years.

No, I don't have a name yet any recommendations?

When you get her home allow her to get used to the place without too much activity. She may be overwhelmed. By the same token she may jump out of the box ready for attention and I see nothing wrong with doing just that if that's what she seems to want. I just wouldn't force anything or anyone on her. They pretty much don't let you anyway. You will love her. I have a Congo African Grey. He is a mess but I love him to death. There is a baby Timneh at the shop I go to and she (I think she is a she but have no real idea) is a little demon temptress trying to get me to take her home. What a nice gift for you to be given from your husband (for him). His Amazon experience will come in handy although I think he will find the TAG to be a lot different. Greys are great and baby greys are so sweet. I'm really excited for all of you.
