new mom of 2 wonderfull cockatoo's

Hello my name is Gale. I am the proud new adopted mommy of Lewie and Lilly. 2 wonderfull umbrella cockatoo's. Lewie is microchiped and although we have not seen the info on the chip ourselve's his previouse owners (their second home) say that he was born Jan of 1993. So that makes him 16. Lilly on the other hand is another story. We were told she is banded. Well when we saw her band I was disheartend to find out she is open band and she was imported into florida. I dont know what year. I know they stoped importing birds in 92. So i guess she is a min of 17 yrs but could be anything over that in age. I dont agree with wild caught birds but i can't do anything about her past now just improve her future. They are both loving birds and enjoy attention. Although, if anyone out there know's how to track down Lilly's info with her band # I would be very thankfull. I know she came in in Florida from a private import station but dont know how to find how when and wich one.Well I will talk about them more on other threads. I do have a few questions I hope you all can help me with. For now have a wonderfull time and everyone enjoy their feather'd friends.

Welcome to BB! Are they your only birds? Did you adopt them together? I know there is a group on yahoo for finding the breeder of domestic bred birds but I don't know about wild caught birds. I'm sure someone else will be along with helpful information.

Welcome! Wow, two umbrellas at once! You are better than me for that. Best wishes to all of you!

Thank you. They are my only birds at this time but i had an african gray congo in the past. I did adopt them together. They are not a proven breeding pair but they are bonded. They are in seperate cages at the moment and even though we are getting them new bigger one's i think we will still keep them seperated when unsupervised. Don't want babie's. The male doesn't seem interested in breeding though. But better safe then sorry. lol
