New to the Bird World

Hello,

My name is Alexa and I am new to this forum. Right now I have 2 guinea pigs named Bacon and Beanie. I also have 4 turltes named Flounder, Noobie, Snoopy and Dobby. I am planning on getting a Cockatiel soon. I want to get a male but I know that it is very hard to sex them when they are young. I have done some research and I have read that male juveniles have the spots on their primary flight feathers and they only reach halfway down the wing. Females have them on the primary and secondary and they cover the entire wing. Is this correct?

I hope to learn a lot about my future pet on this forum.

Welcome Alexa.

I don't have tiels, so I can't be of any help in that area. There are many knowledgable people here who can give you advise in that area. Post the question in BirdTalk section or in the expert advice section. You may get more responses there to your question on Tiels. Hope to hear more from you. I am sure you will like it here.
