Question HI! (and a question)

Hey all! I just brought my first bird home last night! An awesome baby turquoise green cheek. He is still being handfed, but also eating veggies and seeds. Anyhow, I had a question for you. He's been acting healthy in every way, but his stools have been very watery. Is this normal, or should I take him to the vet?

Congratulations on your new addition!! When you have the chance please post some pics!! I love baby pics!!!
As a general rule, when in doubt call an Avian vet first! If you don't know one in your area there are lots of resources on the internet for finding one or post your location and I'm sure somebody will be able to point you in the right direction. That said, the consitency of droppings depends a lot on what your fid is eating. Fruits and veggies often make my GCC's poop more watery then not. I don't have any experience with hand feeding but I imagine it's pretty watery to start with so this may be normal. A good person to call would be the breeder where you got the bird from.
If you haven't found an Avian Vet yet now is the perfect time to find one.

Congrats on your new baby!! I LOVE the turquoise gcc's....they are just awesome little birdies! I'd suggest finding an avian vet and taking him in for a well bird visit. They will not be cheap (here they run around 200.00 for all the blood work) but it's worth it in the long run. Our first bird actually had Chlamydiosis when we got him and had we not had blood work done, we might not have known till it was too late. We actually did not get it done at first, but later we did and I'm so glad we did it!

Well, I just hang up with the breeder I bought him from. She said that the watery stools are normal so long as the green/brown part was solid, which it is. He's been eating a lot of veggies, so that might be what it is. Anyhow, thanks for the welcomes! Here are some pictures. They don't do him justice because I suck at photography. He actually looks more blue than the pictures show. Oh, and I plan on taking him to the vet for a check up as soon as the paycheck comes in.

Thanks, Razzle! I named him Skeeter, after the character in "Doug," because he's the same color. Heh.
