I currently dont own a bird, I am just doing some research on what I need and such first and then I also need to save up for one and all the necessary things. I am lookin into getting a Sun Conure, Jayden Conure, or a Green Cheek Conure. I also have the task of convincing the wifey to let me get one becuase she says birds are to messy and loud lol

LOL well they are messy and loud, but that becomes an afterthought once you have one! If she thinks they are too loud don't get a sun or jenday. I would go for the green cheek, you will win her over with a sweet little green cheek conure!

I prefer the conures to the tiels, but that is just me. I like the colors of the conures and their playfulness!

Welcome! While cockatiels are not as loud as conures they tend to chirp constantly. Also, Pyrrhura like the GCC are supposed to be quite more quiet than Aratinga such as sun conures. I would check the conure section. It is very active. Enjoy the site!

I have very, very, very limited experience with birds, but i've had a green cheek for a couple of days. He isn't loud at all. Actually, he's real quiet. He just grumbles and makes a low quack when he wants to come out of his cage. I'm sure it varies from bird to bird, but just wanted to share my experience. Also, he's cool as all hell.

I have a pearly conure and he's very sweet, cuddly and actually is quieter than the cockatiels I've owned. Also there's someone on this board who owns a linnie (lineolated parakeet, isn't it?) and they say their bird is great! (I'm inclined to agree, from the posts and pictures) I don't remember the parront's name, of course, but the linnie is called Peep! That's exactly what she looks like! Soooooo cute. I bet your wife would fall in love with one of those! :)

thanks for the replys guys..ya my wife thinks the birds are cute, but she just thinks they are to messy and loud haha..what we might do is go to a bird breeder and have her hold some to see if she falls in love with them lol..she loves animals which is a plus!

If you get a green cheek you will make her a bird lover for life. People in general have no idea about the personalities of parrots. Conures esp are little clowns. I won over many people with my little green cheek. In fact I had a friend that knew nothing about birds and after meeting my green cheek her and her husband proceeded to getting about 12 parrots of a matter of a few years!!!!
