NanDayus, do I take it from your user name that you own or are at least a fan of Nanday conures? :)

Smile

hello,

I have about 60 birds... LOL.... Most of them are chickens and quail, one duck. My inside birds are as follows:

Nipper- my male Nanday Conure
Trinket- my female Cinnamon Green Cheek Conure
Flargin- my female cockatiel
Dingle- my white faced female cockatiel
Carl- my blue male budgie
Handbanna- my yellow female budgie

Out of all of them Trinket is my baby, she is the sweetest. I really want Nipper to be nice too, however he seems to hate everything that moves. However he was never hand raised by the person we got him from. and He is slowly learning to "step-up" on a pencil. I dare not use my finger as he destroys the pencil.

My Tiels are the oldest of my family of birdies. we are thier second set of parents. Dingle is the only one that i can hold though, even though she likes to make all sorts of racket and protest.

And the buds are not holdable at all. Mostly we have them because we like the noise they make and how pretty they are.

Answering the second question,
yes i do like nandays, I like all conures actually. I am currently trying to get a Sun and a Jenday. I like them both. I would also like to acquire a BGM or an African Grey. I can not decide which though as each have attributes that I like. IDK i will figure something out.

My other animals include, two beagles, three cats, two copperhead snakes, one eastern rat snake, two hamsters, and four chinchillas. We used to have a possum but he decided that he wanted a girl friend and live with her. LOL.... There are several other animals that we have had, however too many to list.

LOL! With macaws, it's bite through a broom handle.. Figures with a conure (which seems to think it is a macaw) would bite through pencils (which they probably think are broom handles!)

Can you get a video clip of your bird stepping up onto a pencil? :P

LOL... I can try. Sometimes he is pretty moody. Sometimes he will do it right away while other times he just wants to squawk and lunge at me. LOL.... I even move slowly, speak sweetly and praise him when he does a good job.

Right now i am trying a method i read on here to get him to trust me.. I am with holding his food and he only gets some when he takes it from my hand. If he does so i give him a hand full of food. though so far he has not eaten anything He has taken from me, (he takes it and violently throws it to the bottom of his cage and stares at me) we have gotten to where i can give smaller seeds with out him deciding my hand is the better choice. I just tell him, "take it nicely, no biting"..... I guess he understands me. I think he hates me....

My Trinket is so sweet, she is learning "step up", and she is catching on but she is a booger and would rather be right up next to my chin...

Macaws.... yeah i know they can do some substantial damage if they bite, however that is why i want to get one and raise it from a weanling. I would love a blue and gold, a blue throated or a miligold.
