Good Morning
Yesterday, I purchased, for my son and daughter, 2 wonderful parakeets.
One is an albino and the other is blue and white. This is going to be their entry into the wonderful world of birds. Everything seems to be going great, but the blue/white one seems to have a little labor to it's breathing. Last edited by HappyJ; 05-04-2009 at 04:41 PM. |

welcome to the Board.. i love Parakeets.. they are the sweetest things.. especially when hand reared and friendly..
i would also suggest you take the little guy to see the vet.. for as im sure you know..birds hide their illnesses.. and when problems start to show its usually because the sickness is to far ahead to hide.. so a vet visit.. especially with something as breathing problems is very important.. let us know how it goes.. cheers! |

Thank you all for the responses. I spoke with the pet store where I purchased them. They told me try to give her a little vitamin C in the form of an orange. I just took het out of the cage and let her walk around the house, and she seems fine. She is very trusting and loves to hang out on my shoulder already. She seemed fine walking around the house and inspecting every nook and cranny. She also seems to chill out in the cage with her eyes closed.
I guess maybe she is trying to get used to her new home. She is still pretty young (even though I am not sure of her age) Compared to the albino she is 2/3 his size. I look forward to many years and good times with the new family members. I know my kids are very excited as well. |
