Question Getting a baby sun conure

I am getting a 9 week old baby sun soon. I need an advice on permanent cage and a travel cage (my family is moving around a lot)

These are the models I am looking at

Travel cages:
Poquito Bird Travel Cage - 14x18x14"
A&E Cage Co. BC1819Black - Folding Travel Carrier

Permanent cages
Avian Adventures - Nina Playtop Bird Cage 25" H x 30" W x 18" D
Avian Adventures Chiquita Playtop 28x22x29" (Avian Adventures Chiquita Playtop Bird Cage - Presented by BirdsComfort.com)

Also need an advice onand how to introduce him to my boys (9 and 5 years old) who never had a pet before.

Cages look good! The playtop or dometop seems to be just whatever the owner prefers. I have a dometop for my Sun and a separate play area, however she is always on top of her cage anyway. As far as introductions to kids, make sure they know to never stick their fingers int he cage when the bird is in the cage, sometimes parrots think you are giving them food and might take a nip at a finger. I have little kids (3 and 2) and my sun just ignores the screaming and the running around. They are really good birds! Congrats!

Just wanted to tell you that I HIGHLY recommend a dome top cage for a sun conure. I'd gotten a playtop for my sun when we brought him home....more than big enough, thinking he'd love it, but man was I wrong. He HATED HATED HATED IT! I'm talking stand inside and scream for hours because he hated it. He's never liked to go to the top either. I only discovered by accident how much he loved dometop cages because my caique got on the playtop area of my sun's cage one day, so I let Ollie explore Pogo's dometop and he LOVED IT! Coincientally, it was just today that I moved Ollie into a dometop and moved my quaker to Ollie's playtop. He has been playing in there nonstop all afternoon, and has not screamed a single time....miraculous for him believe me! Conures like to hang and the dometop area of the cage is perfect for this. This is the cage I have, though I'm sure you can get it elsewhere for less: Grey Palace 9003223 Dometop by A&E Cages Everything for Birds . I can't recommend it enough.

The Poquito avian hotel is very well constructed. Very solid... but also quite heavy, imo. Sort of a pain if you need to carry it around a lot. I just got one of those small cages they advertise for cockatiels (that are way too small as regular cages) and those are a decent size for travel and light enough to schlep around. Not nearly as high-quality, but serves the purpose.

I have a flight cage for my conure for his day cage, and flight cages are a good deal for the price. If you can go bigger, then that's always a bonus.

Welcome to BB! As for introducing children, it can help to have them spend some time calmly talking to your bird through the cage bars. This can really help build a bond.

Thank you !!!

I'll take another on the dome cages. I have a small house and would like to have a small but comfortable size cage and couple of table top gyms to cary him around. What is the smalest size I can go with?

Question about travel cages - would I be able to keep him in small cage for a week? We are usually take at least 3-4 day trips.

I took kids to a pet store to play with a sun for a while. They seem to understand that parrots have personality and do not agree with everything my kids wanted to do. Now we are reading a book about parrot training technics.
