Hi, I'm new

Hi
Just an intro on myself and a question..I own 8 budgies and 1 cockatiel, they live in the aviary outside (but are relatively tame, they eat from my hands and perch on me happily). I'm thinking of getting some kind of parrot that is handtamed and I can keep inside. I'll be able to interact with it a lot during the day, and it can be out of the cage a lot. I'm wondering what kind of parrot I should get. I want one that:
Not a bity aggressive kind of bird
Loves to be preened and cuddle etc, but is okay with being left in the cage (with toys etc) or not constantly interacted with..so one that can amuse itself
Playful
Not very expensive
It doesn't matter if it doesn't talk, that is not even on the list. Mainly I want an affectionate, non biting, non aggressive bird who loves to be stroked etc..Noise isn't really a problem.
I really don't know what kind of bird I should get..I don't really like conures but that's about it.
So, hi. I like this forum, it is very good and has a lot of info. :)
Thanks in advance to anyone who can reccommend a good type of bird that would suit me.

Hi, and welcome. I had to laugh a little because you are describing a bird that probably doesn't exist. But, don't worry! You can still find a companion that is a good match for you.

I honestly think it is less about the species than it is about the individual. The problem is that parrots have life stages like people and the baby will become an adult and the behavior will change accordingly.

I have had both babies and adults and don't see a huge difference in the behavior because it always has to be a relationship that you actively work on and is a lot of give (and take) - much more than a dog or cat.

So here is my recommendation: there are many birds out there for adoption and you can check with a local exotic vet, avian vet, or rescue and meet different birds. You may find one you just "click" with and the behavior is likely to be more consistent if it is already an adult.

Best of luck!
