Hi Kiwi is my little -not so loving bird.LOL She bit me again last nite, the worst bite yet-on the back of my shoulder (that will teach me to wear tank tops around her) bled like crazy. I am taking her in to get her wings clipped tomorrow. I moved her cage from my bed room to the kitchen and opened the window so she can hear the other birds during the day when I am at work. I also set up her travel cage with food (thats another story for another chat room),water and a few toys for night time, in place of her regular cage in my room. I hung a toy from the t.v. antena in my room so she has a larger territory to roam in and we keep her bath on the vanity in the bathroom so she can bathe in the mornings when I get ready for work.she will not step up any more, will not let us pick her up and will only land on your head if she feels like it, then jump onto your shoulder to find a nice patch of skin to bite. we are all afraid to have her land on us. Kind of like being held hostage by a wee terrorist. If we dont let her out of her cage she screams amd carries on. Its getting to the point that my husband wants to give her away! This is all very new and confusing to me, so I really appreciate all your advise, thanks so much for the help.sorry this is so long!

hi everyone

Hi there to you!
Kiwi sounds like an handful right now. With consistent handling she should be a good pet but you will have to take the bites right now.
I had a customer who adopted a love bird which was so different in color. Their friend found it and took it to the shelter but she couldn't leave the bird there and adopted him back. Another family adopted the bird and was doing well with him. Unfortunatley one evening, he passed away in mom's hands.
They came in to get another love bird as they were devastated. I couldn't talk them out of the most aggressive cremino in the cage. That evening in trying to work with her they got bit over and over. Mom decided that was enought and it was time for a bird bath. After giving the bird a bath she was their best friend. I thought this was interesting. They came in to get a second love bird, another female and the same thing occured. Now they have two pet love birds that they enjoy very much.
