Jenday cage size

I am new here and I have a question about a cage size. I am about to get a Jenday Conure and I have the opportunity to take in a nice 36"X28" cage but the bar spacing is one inch. Is that too big or will it be okay?

Quaker - Paulie, who turned out to be a girl
GCC - Puck, unsexed

Thanks for any help,
Matthew

Most people will tell you it's too big. I have had my conures in cages with 1 inch bar spacing without a problem but it is definitely something you will have to think about and decide for yourself. The fear is that the bird will get it's head stuck between the bars.
Have you looked at the flight cages? I have one and really like it. I'm hoping to get more soon. They have lots of room and close together bar spacing.
Good Luck!

I haven't looked at flight cages. Everything I have read tells me to buy the biggest cage that I can, but all of the big cages seem to have one inch bar spacing. I really don't want to take the chance of him getting hurt. I guess I will figure something out.

Thanks for the help,
Matthew

Cant say anything from experience about the spacing, but i looked in the cage size table for Swedish L80 law requirements:
At least -
120 cm's long. 80 cm high and bottom area .84 sq.metre
(47", 31.5" and about 8 sq ')

I think I found a winner! Heres a picture. Its an A&E cage, 42"x28" split cage with a divider that I can put in later if I want to add a friend. Found it for $404.00 with free shipping.

I'm sure you've probably already decided, but I just had to check to see what's in your area...

Bird Cage- Double flight cage with divider
Parrot Cage - African Gray, Amazon, etc.
Stainless Steel bird cage (pictures?)
Large bird cage ($500)
HUGE bird cage
LARGE PARROT CAGE

Anyway... welcome to BB! I've seen someone keep a GC in a cage similar to that A&E one! That's one of the best styles to choose from in a split top cage!
