Talking Hello from NJ

Hi everyone :) great board and great info! I started reseraching many months ago and thought I wanted a Parrolet. After speaking to a local breeder I changed my mind. I have a 12 y/o son and I was told a Parrolet as it gets older would not be a good fit. I was told a Conure or a Caique would be a better fit. This A.M I found the sweetest baby gurl (she may be a boy but thats OK we won't have her sexed) A Nanday Conure hatched on 7/03/08. The lady said she had the best bird that would fit my family perfectly. We were between the Nanday and a Caique. I was well aware of the noise factor Nandays can present but she was just amazing. If she is noisy we can help teach her to be quiet (maybe LOL) We have owned birds before so I don't think it will be an issue. We passed her back and forth, she stepped up with no problems. She was very inquisitive also. The Nanday won my heart! Tomorrow my son meets her and she will be home in about 3 weeks :)

Hi & welcome! Im glad to hear you have done your research, that is a very important part in bringing a bird home. Im also glad you know the noise level of a Nanday, they do have quite the volume for a smaller type bird!!! I cant wait to see pictures of your new baby, I hope he/she fits your family. Congrats!!

Research is smart and important but it's great to back it up with a visit to see if there is any kind of bond. It sounds like there is. Congratulations and good luck.

Thanks :) Agreed that a bond is important. Which is why I chose to go somehere I could interact with a bird as opposed to having a bird shipped. There is a definite bond, she seems to like everyone (right now) She is almost an HR from me but I intend on going there every day. They will even allow me to feed her.

Welcome to BB. I love this site.

I love Nandays. I almost got one a few months ago. But he was sold before I could get him. I love the name Uno for green birds. Like the card game.
