Hi everyone

Hi my name is Lewis I have 2 parrots a African grey named Smokey who is coming up on six years old. I got Smokey from a friend who only bought him like someone would buy furniture. He has been with me for 4 1/2 years now and is a very happy bird who had a rough childhood. My other bird his name is Skittles he is a Illiger macaw who is only 20 weeks old. I got him when he was 12 weeks. I got him from Marc Marrone the guy on TV and recently wrote a book called the bird keeper. When I first saw Marc we were going to get a Severe Macaw or a blue and gold but he said I have the perfect bird for you and he brought and these two Illiger macaws they were a month apart in age. The older one which was 12 weeks at the time just stole our hearts away. He is now 20 weeks old today and is a real nice bird Skittles and my African grey Smokey get along real well they can be on the stand together and they get along real well. The baby does try to pick on my grey but I think Smokey knows he is a baby so he lets him get away with a lot of stuff but sometimes Smokey does let him know who's the boss. They are real gentle together and with the advice I got from Marc which is basically keep it simple stupid/kiss. His philosophy is let them be together its all ok and don't baby them. As marc says life is change and change is good for them you never know what life brings daily. Like he said you want them to shower well shower them. if they were in the wild it would rain and they have to shower so just shower them everything this man has taught me is the best advice I ever got. Skittles just loves showers and so does smokey. Skittles loves grapes Smokey loves carrots. Having these 2 birds have brought me a lot of pleasure and they improve my quality of life. Since I am retired they get to be out of there cage at least 6 hours a day and they do love there play stands.

Anyway I could keep typing but I wont it nice to find this board and look forward to chatting with you all.
Warmly
Lewis

Welcome, Lewis. Were you in Marc's shop? What's it like? I always see him on Martha with his landscapes of animals and wonder how he gets all of them to behave so well together.
