Intro and about my bird

Hello everyone new to forum.

I adopted 2 african greys, they where in a house during heavy renovations and no attention was paid to them there cages where horribly dirty and water had slime in it and a food hadn't been changed in a long time. I gave him $500 cash for both birds the one bird (smokey) congo was really sick brought him to animal hospital and died after 2 days hospitalization. which is to sad because he was a sweet bird and ill miss him.

The second bird is timneh 8 years old. Was fether picking and underweight. hes put on weight now and the medicine the vet game us is helping his feathers come back in and is not picking them so far.. really prefers the company of women doesn't like me handing him/her. very playful although misses his friend smokey and shouts for him all the time.

I will probably adopt another parrot so rocko has someone to talk to.

now me im 24 male lives neer ottawa, ontario, canada. my wife is 23 un-employed spends lots of time with rocko. her parents own a congo african grey which we have taken care of and love.

mainly signed up for tips and pointers on rescuing such a abused bird

Hi & welcome! Sorry to hear about Smokey, I think Rocky would benefit from a friend considering he had one before and did well. Even that being said, there is no guarantee he will get along with another bird - its kind of touch and go with birds as far as who they will get along with. There is tons of information here on the boards, have fun looking!!!!

thanks for reply .. they had there own cages they just like whistling back and forth. they were not in same cage dont know if that makes a difference or not. :)
