I was adopted today by a U2!!!

Hello everyone.
I wanted to take a minute or two to introduce myself. I am Tammy from Alliance OH. I am a mother to 2 children a 7yr girl and 5 yr boy, a wife for 18 yrs and a peds RN. I have been wanting a bird for a very long time and doing lots of research on B&G macaws. Well I found a website that had may different types of birds for sale. Today hubby and I along with the kids. They had 1 B&G left it was about 12 weeks old. They also had an U2 4 month old. I walked up to him/her and was told "hello" . So after talking to owner about the safety of B&G with young children, I was starting to lean towards the U2. I went over to him/her to see how he/she would react to me. As I went into the cage to have him/her step up. He/She did . I brought him/her up close and then he/she started to cuddle under my chin and said "Love you".
I placed a deposit on him/her. The owners will keep him/her untill fully weanned. I was told that she/he is weaning fast.. They are calling him/her Coconut. I like that name so I might keep it.

Hi littlerose, welcome to the board. Have you had birds before? A u2 as a first bird is a REALLY big step.

Coconut is a great name. Spend some time reading here and even if you have someone that has a too, take the whole family and go spend time with them in their house. Any animal can be time consuming, but birds are special.

Congratulations & welcome! Sounds like you'll have a sweetie ... I'm a wee bit jealous, there were 2 U2s at the same place we got our TAG and GCC that no one purchased for the longest time, but we just didn't didn't have the space for either one or both of them.
