Well he imitates lots of sounds - not even sure what all of them are. He does a couple of different phone rings, laughs, meows, makes different electronic noises, a weird water sounding noise (like water going down a drain), he growls and whistles. If you mean what kind of "natural" bird noises - I'm not sure I would quite know how to explain those. Some of them are loud, but I doubt it compares to a macaw. I'd say he does much more human speech and random imitations of sounds than natural bird noises. When he wants my attention and I'm not in the room, he calls out his name in the most pitiful sounding way possible. But it's funny and hard to resist calling back to him when he does it.

Swainwillow - would love to see pics of Goldie!

I'd love to see one in person! I actually hadn't touched a lory until I was bringing my baby home, there are NONE around here.

Goldies are Goldie's Lorikeet
pretty small, green and yellow, with a plum head. cute is what I call em!

I like all of the small lorikeets; the pleasant and the goldie's are the ones off the top of my head. I'm hoping to someday sell my ringneck pair, sell their babies when they have them (IF they have them) and go strictly into lorikeets, namely the goldie's and other smaller species.

Blueberry can do a loud chirp, loud constant chatter, and she talks very VERY well. She picked up words really quickly, and was even saying 'come here babies' to the breeder when she was being hand fed.

thats a pretty little goldie!! ive never seen one of those before. if you ever find a red flanked lorikeet, let me know!! the one they have at the bird store is a little sweet thing!! absolutely adorable :) tiny too!! about the size of a budgie, lol.

ive never really heard a loud lory noise, ive heard a few really quiet little peeps and stuff. i doubt their screams could rival a macaw or cockatoo though :) the more i think about buying the chattering lory, the more i get excited!! LOL

hmmm, in loudness, nowhere near as loud as my ekkie at full scream, but at wearing/grating/constantness... they are equals ;) unless you had a screamer of a too that doesn't stop...

Its really not that bad, its about the same loudness as my pair of indian ringnecks, and about the same in consistency.

NO WAY! Growling doen't mean back off!!! My baby girl does it to say "I'm playful, I love you and I enjoy your company... oh and by the way I want you to scratch my head RIGHT NOW!" And again, she does the "stabbing" thing where she goes real tall, then lunges forward and taps my hand- if you do it back- using your hand OR even your head, you'll excite him into play mode which is the best! Gently use ur hand to wrestle with him. With the bobbing, he may be playing- or he may be masturbating on your hand(!!!)- some birds do this! I think you guys have a REALLY strong bond and that's brilliant but don't let him become TOO obsessive!
