Talking New Lory owner! (pics!)

Hello all, my name is joanne and I'm a new proud momma of a yellow phase dusky lory!
Im in california and got him for 599.99, Im wondering....is that about right for a yellow phase dusky lory? Anyhow he was worth it! BtW what does the silver band on his leg for? Is it ok to remove it?

His name is Yoshi and I just adore him. I 'm surprised these guys (lories) are not more popular. He is the sweetest parrot I've ever owned and with such a big personalty.
He's playful, cuddles, and is such an acrobat! He's not shy or timid at all. The only time he nips is when I try to put him back in his cage,he hates that! lol
He'd much rather be out all day.

Anyone esle here have a dusky lory?
Here are some pics of my wonderful Yoshi!

That is a stunning bird!Congratulations!I've never seen one before.I don't think they are very common. The leg band is for identification. If it bothers him a great deal an avian vet can remove, it don't attempt it yourself.

Thankyou! I Love yoshi!

I doesnt seem like his legband bothers him but it does look a bit to big on his leg. I'll have to ask the avian vet when I take him in.

He's beautiful! The bands are normally a little big, because they must be placed over the entire foot when the birds hatch. As long as it doesn't bother him or he isn't getting it caught on anything, it'd probably be a good idea to keep it on him. Its his ID card if he ever gets out.

I would keep it on if its not a bother. We put bands on for Identification. If he ever gets out its an ID for him. He sure is a pretty bird. I dont do Lorys cause they shoot poo, lol.

yes he does not eat seed only nectar, nectar in powder form,fruits/veggies and course water. Lory bird poops are runny, more like pee than poops but i've never seen him "shoot" it in any special direction. It just kinda lands like any other poop would.

Before I got him i was a little scared because almost every online article I read on these guys said they have extremely loud shrill voices but so far his voice isnt half as loud as the sun conure i used to have, boy was that guy a screamer!
When Me and my boyfriend broke-up he took taz with him because he had bought him with his money.A sad day but ah well. That was about 2 years ago now.
