Olly, my rainbow

Just going through the board introducing my mob so here's Olly. He's about 7-8 months old now (I've lost track of time), chatters incessently, swears under his breath, and his best friend is my 4month old sun conure. The bird is a complete lunatic.

Simply Beautiful!!! I have heard they were messy bird,that is why is why I have said no to them many times. Are they?

The term poo shooter comes to mind. They are reasonably high maintenance. I wash my walls once a week, floors every second day (that's with newspaper under his cage), his cage gets a thorough clean a couple of times a week as in all the wire sides. The mess and noise is made up for by the general entertainment value, talking ability and beauty of these guys. I'm hoping to get a pair next year for breeding, that's how much I've been captivated by the lorikeets.

Their primary diet IS nectar, and fruits, so I'd deffinitely say so!

olly is a cutie and so is dharma. I dont think they make too much mess or cookie doesnt, cookie turns into his cage to poop and I have put newspaper on the wall just in case. The character of the rainbow lorries is very comical and I have never seen a viscious one. My little girl walks around with cookie and when she hasnt got him he is chasing her trying to play.

Olly is a grot. He has no social decorum what so ever. He's also a spoilt brat who rules the bird room, imitates everyone else and has an extensive potty mouth. Unfortunately his behaviour comes from me letting him get away with way too much and alowing my mouth to runaway with me when on the computer which is in the same room. Need I say more. Oh, I love him dearly.

I must admit I have been tempted by the beauty and personality of lorikeets but the poop shooting does scare me off. I guess I'll have to be satisfied with the wild ones in the back yard.
