The Lories in My Life

My two sweethearts--Caillou, a 3 year old female Dusky Lory and Elmo, a 10 year old male Red Lory. What a pair! Caillou is a study in perpetual motion. She plays so hard that she'll fall asleep in my lap in the late afternoon. She does somersaults and all kinds of gymnastics, dances and sings, follows Elmo around like any human baby sister. She does sneezes and chants "apple" and "stop it!!" Elmo likes to play catch (he'll throw atoy to you and yell "you get it !" He has a huge vocabulary, also sneezes and does a smoker's cough. He dotes on Caillou and is fiercely protective of her. When I'm sad, it's such comfort to have him on my shoulder, have him rub his soft red head against my cheek, look into his dark eyes and hear him croak "I love you!". Yeah, Lories are messy, and they're kooky, but they're wonderful friends and dear companions. I love mine to pieces. Marion

I am embarrassed to say that i didn't realize that Lories could talk so well. I thought they were just fabulous looking. Do you have any videos?

I wish everyone would post with a picture - & you Lory owners I'd have expected you'd post lots - after all these are the most colourful ones!! *hint - hint*

Marion could you please post some pics. Would love to see your guys.

Homebird, I didn't realise about the speech until Olly started chattering away. Olly imitates the first 2 rings of the phone. Really annoying as you go to get up then realise that it's the bird. Need to change the ring.

cookie talks non stop everytime he goes to move from toy to toy he says step up. They talk so well when they ask a question eg whatcha doing people answer. I would clean up poop anytime if it meant I could play with a lorrie.
