Rainbow Lorikeet Runner

I just made a post here: http://birdboard.com/forum/showthrea...420#post355420 in the 'Get Help with Your Bird' section about a fostered Rainbow Lorikeet Runner. Please go and see, we don't have much time to decide its fate.

Smile re, lorikeet runner

hey i know this is reasonably useless post now but ive been working with wildlife rescue in avian care for a long time and have some extra infomation... over the years we have had quite a few runners come through and our standard method of treatment (particularly for young birds) has been a forty day course of psitavet under quarantine, this does not nessessarily result in the regrowth of flights but we have never experianced any contagion after treatment which does allow for the possability of the bird becoming a pet and associating with other birds. i have more infomation if your interested.. good luck for next time.

Thanks so much for the extra information Whirlybirdy (Olive)!

I've done a quick search online for Psittavet and will be contacting the 'Society' about the antibiotic and questioning any vets I will have future dealings with!

This page online was helpful:
Psittacosis Article

Have you heard about or know of any vets in Sydney who "Imp" new flight feathers?

Thank you for your care and information, perhaps more birds can be saved in Sydney now :)
