Exclamation Sos Help Please!

Hi, My name is Emma I live in sunny England! I'm new to this site, and was wondering if anyone could help, i resuced a lovely bird about two years ago which i began to learn is a Lorikeet ive had a look on the web and he looks as though he good be a rainbow....the reason why i'm saying he looks is because he is bold he has feathers on his head, tail and wings his whole front and back is as smooth as a baby's bottom! I've guessed that he could be around 7years old. he was called Percy i've re named him Lorry!

He was a lot of hard work to start with I obviously had to gain his trust which took a lot of patients has his bite's come quite keen and draw blood!! I later learned that he should have special nectur mix which I buy in a powder form and add with baby food and honey which he loves and also fresh fruit, the lady that had him before fed him on chocolate and diary product which I also learnt is the worst thing for him!! we have now bonded very well he is very over protective of me and doesnt seem to like it if people touch me they get bit!! he is very talkative and seems happy.....there's just one thing he doesnt seem to be growning any new feathers!!!

I would really appreciate any responses or advice on my little buddy Lorry or guard bird!!!

Emma

I can't answer your question, but knowing the bird board, since your post is new, a photo of what you are describing would be helpful when the appropriate indiviual spots this.

Hi Emmas.. that a cute bird you got there ... I'm suprise that your bird survived from eating chocolate and dairy product.. I never heard or seen anything like that... he is very lucky bird ... Give him time to get back to normal by eating the right food and I'm sure his feather will grow back as it gonna take time sprout out .. on your last picture of your bird I see one tiny feather sprout above his knee on his left leg.. kinda hard to see as the picture a little blurry as he moved from the camera... By the way Welcome to the Bird Board

Emmas,

Try misting or bathing him with 100% organic aloe vera mixed with water. You can try 1 desertspoon aloe vera in 1/2 pint of water.

Hi Emma! Yes, he's definitely a rainbow lory. Can you tell me how long he has been bald like this? Is it the whole two years you have had him? Also, are his wing and tail feathers normal shaped or are they curling up? They look like they are doing some odd things in your pictures. Keep him warm won't you!

All the best,

Heather

Hi Heather

He's been bald for the whole 2years...i think its roughly 2 1/2 years but he has always been bald. His wing feathers are starting to curl up at the top but all the rest seem to be the normal shape. maybe i should knit him a little jumper its rather cold in the UK!!!

Thanks Heather

Emma

Hi, I just read a story about a bird that ate a lot of fruit and nectar like food that plucked because he had a bacterial infection on his chest from the dripping sugar. You might have that checked out. Cute bird!!
