HAHAHA it's normal! Mine does that too ;) You'd be surprised how many people say "my lorikeet does this... is it normal?" Yeah- she does it while I'm watching tv, on the phone, talking to someone...
Mine hops in a circle, puffs up her feathers, widens her eyes then squeals and dives onto the ground, slides along a few inches then repeats the whole fiasco...
I don't think you can get her to stop- it's completely natural and shows you have a healthy, happy lorikeet!

Ashling is turning wild! She had heaps of fits today, hops away when I try to get her out of the cage (she usually LEAPS onto me), she keeps wanting to go to my step-dad or mum's shoulder and worst of all- almost broke my heart- she flew AWAY from me, out of my room down the hall into the kitchen :( She usually does anything to stay near me...
Maybe she's going through montana's stage a bit later? This is so weird... what did you do?? She's screaming worse than ever too.

Sounds like your lory needs more attention. Spend time playing with him.

My lory loves to be held and investigate whatever jacket or shirt I am wearing. My bird will keep quiet for hours checking out every fold and wrinkle.

If you have a sweatjacket with a hood that has ties, let the bird chew on the tie. Also let him crawl up the tie and then when he gets to the top, pull the tie as high as you can above your head and let him crawl up some more. Then when he gets to the top, gently lower him and the tie down so he has to crawl up it again.

My bird looks like a paratrooper during this game and he shrieks with joy during the climb.

Spend time with your lory...serious playtime and he'll quiet down.

Anji- was that for me or Montana? lol. Ash spends pretty much all the time I'm at home out of her cage, with me, snuggling, splaying, eating, watching tv, going outside, shopping, to markets etc. She gets HEAPS of attention, but is a crazy lil girl. She's biting me more too... I think she just needs some intensive training every day, instead of the measley ten minutes with a piece of spinach and a few tricks...

HAHAA, Lorikeets do this! They have daily moods (and sometimes weekly) just like people do. There is nothing wrong and they will be in a better mood on another day :)
