Question Wanting a rainbow lorry!!

I have been wanting a rainbow lorry for about 3years now, My dad says yes to the idea but my mum, being a cat person says no!
Mum has never met a lorry so she doesn't know how wonderful lorries are! and she has only heard the bad side of them.
reasons why I can't:
The sinking dog would eat it! (but I would make sure that the up stairs would be a dog/cat free place)
haven't even trained the budgie (the rainbow lorries around here are hand reared!)
The mess!!(dont know what to say about that one)
and of couse, the noise!

My reasons why I SHOULD have one:
they are very playfull!
They bond easly (I think....)
could maybe be a friend for Bullie!

thats all I got..... so as you see Mum seems to be winning... I need more sugestions!

I dont know what to tell you.. They CAN be pretty messy... and can be loud at times. But they are very fun birds. Feeding them the Lory pellets instead of the nector helps with the mess a little though. In your previous post you where saying that when you have more then one bird .. you dont spend time with them.. Lories need lots of attention.

I really hate to say so (because I love to be enthusiastic when others are enthusiastic about birds) but it is super important for all members of a household to willingly agree to adopting any type of parrot for it to really be a good environment for the bird. Lories are VERY loud. I work with about 30 parrots at a time and the high pitched lory screech is really up there with the best of the cockatoos we care for. I don't want to discourage you from your dream bird and you sound really passionate about this specific species, but I would really hope that mom would have a big change of heart before a lory came home with you.

If your mom ends up putting her foot down about the lory idea, would it be possible for you to look for a rescue or bird store in your area who might be looking for a volunteer - or even just someone who would be happy to have you over to play with their lory? This way you might be able to play with lories and MORE! Rescue's usually really appreciate the help, and you would have the opportunity to learn a great deal about birds of all different species. By the time you could make the decision to adopt a lory (when you don't have to live with mom and dad) you'll be a bird expert! Just an idea!
