Lories near Kansas city???

I have been looking for a Lory near me for months, I have only found one and she is in a pet store. Any ideas??? I live near Kansas city.

I have a lory myself, and it took a long time to find one near me. I got mine from a rehome situation, but I have been told that rainbows are especially hard to find because zoos tend to get in touch with breeders and buy the whole clutch to put in their aviaries. Zoo people have found that having a walk in aviary where the lories can be fed by the visitors brings people into the zoo. I am not too sure how true this statement is, but I can attest that I have never seen lories at any of the shows I have been to in Tennessee, and have only ever seen one for sale in a pet store, and that was in New York.

I have tried that site, I have been looking since May. I can find places that will ship them but I would like to find one near me, a bird in need would be even better.

have you tried cl and kijiji? im from kc but i live in springfield mo now they have all kinds of them down here in pet stores! or at least last time i went in there they did! what part of kc are you from ?? and where have you checked

I check CL and Kijiji everyday, I keep an ad on Exclusively Lories, I have sent e-mails to all kinds of breeders around here to see if they know anyone.

I am outside of Kansas city in Shawnee KS.

im more into kck and kcmo have you ever been to brothers pets? im not for one that buys from a breeder or a pet shop now that i have started adopting! but when you cant find one that you want to adopt then you gotta do what you gotta do! but brothers pets is across from where blue ridge mall use to be!! off I-70 right there a little ways down from quick trip in kcmo do you know where im talking about??? if your going east on i 70 its past the stadium a ways!

I know exactly where your talking! I did find one at a pet store in the Great mall of the great plains but I hate to buy from a pet shop plus I felt the price was a bit much. I would much prefer to adopt but I guess I will just keep looking. Keep your ears open!
