Is your Lory loud?

I have several people lately talk about how loud their lories are, I had 2 in my home at one time and they got loud playing with toys but no screaming or shrieking, just wondering if they are normally loud?

When Pip and Olly were inside they could outdo the suns on a good session. It's not like 'too loud, just more the high pitched. I haven't had anything to do with any other types of lorys/lorikeets so different species may well have different tones and volumes.

My lory isn't really all that loud unless he is doing his alarm call. He does an imitation of a telephone that is mildly annoying at times, but the alarm call (it really does sound like an alarm!) is the only thing that could be considered loud. With that being said, he is not quite as loud as my sun conure in my opinion. (or maybe he is, it is just that his contact call is more pleasing to the ear, lol.)

Watermelon does a squeaky toy noise at pretty good volume but his occasional screech is deafening from shoulder range. Of course the screech is once or twice a day the sqeaky toy when he's bored and entertaining himself. All-in-all mostly quiet though.

All lorikeets are different, but generally they have short periods of screeching 2-3 times a day. I agree that it's not the loudness that's the issue- it's the actual sounds they can make... The rasping screech and the ear piercing call can get annoying, especially if it's incessant, you have a headache and/or you're trying to concentrate. When Ash is playing with toys and rolling around she mostly growls, purrs and chirrups- really cute, happy, playful noises. If she gets angry, she sometimes makes the rasping screech while attacking her toys. When she wants to come out of her cage and play, she gets very noisy! I tell her "Speak nicely to me, don't yell, it's rude." So she says hello and gets let out.
