Lory Sounds
MundyZoo asked about lory sounds. Here is a video of one of our red lories, Mars, making her typical morning sounds. She is not always like this, but she is like this a lot when she is getting attention from her cage. She likes to show everyone how big an bad she is. Also, she competes a lot with our other birds and this may impact the frequency of her screeching.
There are lots of bird noises here, but the lory is the shrill/harsh screech you hear throughout most of the video. YouTube - Lory Sounds The other bird that was sounding off a lot in the first 10 seconds of the video or so is a jenday conure - so that you may compare. Someone mentioned that when a lory does that right by your ear it is deafening. Both of my red's have caused a bit of hearing loss in both ears from screeching while on my shoulder. Conures can have the same affect but not too many other species as i think it's the shrill pitch that hurts so bad. -Anna

Wow! Looks and sounds just like my Lori, Watermelon, going after his toys. He also makes a sqeek toy sound that is UNREAL.
