HELP PLEASE - Please help with what I should do

Hello all, firstly I would like to say "Hello" this is my first post and I need some advice as to what to do. I've been looking after a Rainbow Lorikeet for the last few days as he/she flew into my window and was concussed. The lorrikeet is a baby I persume as it has a black beak but what the problem is that this bird has become very friendly in this short time frame and appears to have taken great affection to me. I am in Australia and I am not sure whether it is fair to keep him and whether I am allowed to keep him or is it possible to keep him/her. Any help would be so much appreciated

A Rainbow Lorikeet, by victorian law the bird must be handed over to a wildlife carer. it may stay with th carer for life, or be assessed for release, or placed with a wildlife park/zoo.

a carer near you can be found here

Is there anyway this bird can be kept as it appears to have a special bond with me in such a short time. He/she is very friendly and is already sitting on my shoulder, eating from my hand. I dont think I have done anything wrong as I think I helped save the bird and I have got attached to him/her

I thought lories were popular pets in AU, is it only because it was wild 'caught' that it has to be turned in?

I think you can buy them here in Australia and I dont believe you need a license from what I can gather it appears to be ok to buy one from the shop. I just helped the bird and the bird has grown attached too me and we have a special bond and that puts me in a tricky situation as to what to do
