Thought i'd share some pictures of Joey. Bit of a long story about how i got him. He was advertised on a parrot forum for sale. His elderly owner had died suddenly (gone into hospital for a routine thing and died - scary isn't it?!) so Joey was taken in by a family member, who didnt get on with him cos he was noisy and, to make a long story short, the poor little man had about 5 homes in the space of a couple of months before he was sent to a family friend (grey breeder) to be sold, which is when i met him.
Anyway, the guy obviously didnt know much of his history, just that Joey was about 10 years old. I've since been told (not sure if its true or not, but no reason not to believe it!!) that he was about twice that age and had been wild caught, which at least explains the lack of leg band!! Anyway, he was my first lory, i totally fell in love with him! So much so that im hooked and am currently waiting for a Black Capped lory egg to be laid and hatch!
The sad news now.. I lost my precious Joey last June :( The most awful thing. I moved him into my new house about 2 weeks after i moved in, and within a few days he had died. Vet could find no obvious cause of death so put it down to either old age and the stress of moving (which im not convinced about as he'd survived several moves!!) or possibly fumes that we were unable to smell like from the carpet being fitted, or even paint fumes though it had been a few weeks since the house had been painted... Anyway, whatever the reason, i miss him terribly. My poor little guy. Very fond memories though!! Enjoy his pictures, hopefully they show his wonderful character well!
He loved to dance!
