New flight cage for my Lorikeet - dimensions

Hi All,

I have just purchased this new cage for Monty.....what do you think about the dimensions? It's not quite as deep as I wanted, but it's almost twice as wide across-ways than her current cage.

This should give her more exercise room and space to play for when I'm at work and she has to spend time in the cage, right?

Nobody.....? Just want to know if you experts see this as a suitable size cage for my lil Scaly? She's small for a Lorikeet (about a 1/3 size of a rainbow) but due to me working Mon-Fri I thought this cage would be more suitable than her current one.

This was the largest I could afford without going into actual outdoor aviary sizes.

Does the non-replies mean it's still too small?

Was worried that it's not very big in the depth, but the length would allow her to stretch her lil wings for some exercise....right?

$180 was a lot of money (for me anyways) so if you feel it's not suitable please please let me know, as I could re-sell the cage on eBay if need be..... I have been looking for weeks and this seemed to be the biggest one for the $$$.

Made sure the bar spacing was small (13mm) and not 'too size spacing, which would cause her to get stuck.

Looks like a very nice sized cage. Leave a spot in the bottom thats empty of toys so she can stretch without hitting things.... and fill the rest with toys, toys, toys. Provided she likes toys. :)

Thanks! Can't wait to put her in her new house, fill it with lots of branch perches, bottlebrush flowers and toys :) It should arrive by Thursday, can't wait!

Good idea about leaving some space sans toys, for some wing room. Will definitely do this.

That looks very good indeed! I like to put platforms in my birds cages so they can lie on them and go under them. I also have these little furry tunnel things which they sleep in, I put them in the top back corner.

Looks terrific and very large! :D I'm sure your scaly will love it (maybe some photos are in order when you have it all set up :P ).

They are a good seller too, PetHomes & Accessories, have bought from them on eBay before with no problem and even got to meet them in person at the Pet Expo this year.

The cage arrived, but it's rather dangerous! The doors only slide up and not come out, so I have to make sure they are fastened with pegs at all times, so they stay in place.

The cage is huge, she has lots of room and loves it in there.

I am so upset cause across the road from me is an auction/2nd hand store and they just got a MASSIVE cage in, with reinforced door/locks/bigger, looks brand new and is $299.

It's a $500 cage at least.

Now I'm like 'do I buy the 2nd cage cause it's better nad try to resell the original flight cage on E-Bay? It's been used for a week now.

CAN'T BELIEVE this other cage came up. It keeps taunting me, sitting across the street looking nicer. Almost wish someone else would buy it so I don't have to look at it anymore.

Am okay with the peg thing myself, but it could be dangerous if she sits just at the edge of the door and if the peg comes loose and the door slams on her back.

It could break a bird's back.

THEN we got 2 x new finches to put in her old cage and one escaped BECAUSE the door opens out and when I was changing the water it flew out!! Luckily flew in the house, but was a big scare.

Wish the doors from one were on the other....

Am I being pedantic? BF says it's a waste to spend $300 on this other cage in the hope that I can sell the other one.

It's just that the other one is SO much stronger and reinforced.

Don't you just hate buyer's remorse? It's the worst. Especially after a lot of online research to have it pop up across the street randomly.
