They go nuts! Very noisy if they're all in the one place... which is usually the case!

They are such beautiful birds - - - I am wondering what they eat in the wild? Or I should ask - what were they eating in that video? I know they have a different diet than our other parrots.

I would love to have lories come to my yard to eat - what a fabulous experience.

In the wild their diet generally consists of pollen and nectar from flowering native trees and bushes, sometimes eating insects they find, and also feast on native fruit and human plantations.

In the vid they are eating wild bird seed- which is very bad for them, but unfortunately most people don't know that this can damage their palates.

I used to have them feed at my last house in the backyard; one landed a foot away from me and my old lorikeet Charlie.

Ha ha, do you mean that our lories will hear the video and start piping up? Cuz it worked! If we have the TV on when the birds are out, quite often, especially on the news, you can hear them in the background of the programs, and A & K always have fun trying to call out to the recorded lorikeets!

That's what I meant Rahni :) Ash went pretty nuts with that one, I made it big so they were nearly life sized and she watched them and called out. She does the same when she hears them on the telly... that high pitched call that causes ringing in your ears!
